This Oceanport, NJ waterfront project brings together hardscaping, outdoor living, and detailed landscaping on a property that runs from the house down to a private dock. Scenic View Landscaping designed the space so the pool patio serves as the hub of the backyard, with the lawn and water view opening up beyond it.

The project includes a paver pool patio built on a raised stone wall, a built-in fire pit with seating wall, a built-in outdoor kitchen with bar seating, a stone pillar and paver steps, hydrangea and perennial planting beds, an arborvitae privacy hedge, and landscape lighting throughout.

Waterfront Pool Patio Design and Layout

The pool patio sits directly off the sunroom and is elevated above the lawn on a stone veneer retaining wall, which keeps the patio level and gives it a defined, built-in look from the water side. Paver steps flanked by a stone pillar with a lantern light lead down to the lawn, so the grade change becomes a feature rather than an obstacle.

The patio is organized into three zones around the rectangular pool: a fire pit lounge on one end, an outdoor kitchen and bar on the other, and a dining area under umbrellas in between. The wide lawn stretches from the patio steps to the dock, preserving the open water view.

A mature arborvitae hedge along the side property line provides year-round privacy without closing in the space.
