Project Overview

This Middletown, NJ project created two distinct outdoor living destinations on a wooded lot: a pool patio off the back of the home and a fire pit patio set out in the lawn. Scenic View Landscaping handled the hardscaping and landscaping for both areas, plus the front foundation beds, so the whole property reads as one finished design.

The project includes a paver pool patio with a contrasting border around the freeform pool and spa, a circular fire pit patio with a built-in stone fire pit, a curved paver walkway to the side gate, a stepping stone path, planting islands and beds, and landscape lighting.

Design and Layout

The pool patio wraps the freeform pool and raised spa in a tan paver field with a charcoal soldier-course border, giving the curved pool shape a clean, defined edge. Space for a dining table, lounge seating, and a grill sits close to the house, and a curved paver walkway leads around the side yard to the gate and driveway.

Rather than crowd everything onto one patio, the fire pit was placed as its own circular paver pad in the lawn, reached by a short stepping stone path. The separation gives the family a quiet second gathering spot with its own plantings and keeps sight lines open across the yard.

Planting islands were worked into the pool patio and around the fire pit circle to break up the hardscape and tie the two areas together visually.

The hardscaping was designed to follow the curves of the pool and lot while holding up to years of use, featuring:

Freeform Paver Pool Patio: Tan pavers in a random-pattern field with a charcoal border trace the outline of the freeform pool and raised spa, creating a wide deck for lounging, dining, and safe circulation.

Circular Paver Fire Pit Patio: A round paver pad with a matching charcoal border surrounds a built-in stone fire pit, sized for a full ring of Adirondack chairs.
